My lab is interested in the deregulated signal transduction pathways that occur in human cancers. We are currently focused on dysregulation of PI3-kinase signaling in brain, breast, ovarian and hematopoetic tumors, in which there exist defined genetic lesions that implicate constitutively active signaling through these pathways. Inhibitors of these signaling enzymes are currently being tested in cancer patients, and we are especially interested in determining whether the clinical response to these agents can be predicated from the status of these pathways in the primary tumor.
